Arizona Prop 207: Legalization of Recreational Marijuana
On November 3, 2020, proposition 207 was passed by the voters legalizing the use of recreational
marijuana for adults over 21 years old. While this will take several months to become the law, we
wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that Valley Pain has not changed its policy on
marijuana use. We do not permit the use of recreational or medicinal marijuana while taking opiate
medication. Per your opiate contract, you may be discharged from our practice if you use marijuana
of any type. If you would like to utilize marijuana instead of your opiate medication, discuss a
weaning schedule with your provider and they can assist in getting you off your medications. If you
have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your provider.
